A Little Birdie Told Me...

I spoke with a bird today and he related this adventure to me. It was quite exciting.

You see, someone had left a large patio door open and, while flying around, I flew through it. Imagine my surprise when I couldn't go up into the sky anymore! It was like I was running into a wall!

At any rate, these humans were in there too. There was a big one, a medium sized one and two little ones. They heard me running into that top wall and fluttering around, so they came to watch. I wanted to play, so I buzzed them a few times. You should have seen that big one duck and dodge out of the way! I flew around their nest some. They had all sorts of nice perches there, like on a blue rectangle that had flat humans in it that didn't say anything, or a big shelf with lots of things I've heard called "books" in it.

Apparently, they didn't want me in their nest! The big one got a trap for me! He called it a bucket. I showed him! I buzzed him three or four times, and he looked silly waving that bucket at me--as if he could catch me!

I thought I was a goner when I saw the outside and tried to get there. They had this strange looking net made with plastic slats, and through it, I saw outside! I flew in there and I was trapped! The big one told the medium sized one to get a "cookie sheet" for some reason. Well, when I got out of there I flew past that bucket and started my dance again!

One time when I perched on the big shelf with books, I think that human grew bigger! I was eight feet off the ground, and suddenly that man who wasn't even six feet tall was up there in my face! He thought he was being smart, but I was faster than he was! He tried to trap me with books, but when I saw them sliding over me, I made my escape faster than he could close that door!

After that, I tried to find a good hiding place. Earlier, I was perched on a shelf with pretty bowls on it. They called it a "kabnet" or something. I didn't see a net in it, so I figured it was a good hiding place. I got in another place in that kabnet and tried to wait them out. Well, they figured out where I was, so I escaped again.

I went in a room with more bookcases. Then suddenly, there the bucket was over me when I landed on the floor! I know, it was a stupid mistake. But I escaped again. The human tried to slide the cookie sheet under the bucket to really trap me, but he left an escape window again! Well! I got out of there as fast as I could!

The endgame was even stranger. I found another bookcase and tried to duck behind it. I fell to the floor! There wasn't even room to spread my wings to get out! I didn't know what was going to happen! I saw some light from above and thought I was dying. Then the book shelf I was behind started to move! The medium sized human tried to grab me, but he only got my tail feathers! It hurt! I was stunned so I couldn't move. The big human said to grab my body, but the medium sized human couldn't do it. Finally, the big one reached around and made a grab at me. I struggled and tried to get out, but, I'm ashamed to say, he got my leg. I felt his fingers close around me and just knew that was my end! But he didn't crush me. I couldn't see where I was going, but he carried me back out to the outside and then I got away from him!

So that's my adventure! I almost died three times, but thanks to my flying skills, I got out alive!
