A Very Blessed Day!

What a wonderful day we had! We started the day with celebrating Lynn's ministry. That was really neat to see how she has touched so many lives through the years!

After church we headed to Oklahoma for the a day in the car. Bobby is going to camp this week with the kids from my parents church. We met my parents in ADA Oklahoma. It is a 3 hour drive for us usually.

Lately we have discovered that Chris doesn't travel very well. He usually has a lot of fits and it really makes it hard to even think about traveling. I did a lot of praying before this trip, over the last week, preparing. Before we left town today we went to Target and picked up a fun summer basket from the dollar bins. We then filled it with little trinkets from the party supply section. The boys picked out our trinkets. There were things like mini decks of uno, airplanes, woolly willy, mad libs, rings, bracelets, and sugar free candy. We also picked up hand held video games for the kids to play with in the car. And off we went to make our way to ADA.

The kids were wonderful! We had no arguments, no fits, and no wet pants! The video games helped kill some of the time. And the basket of trinkets gave a reward for good behavior. Usually when we travel we stop for potty breaks and we are down 45 minutes trying to get Chris settled back down. So today every time we stopped we told all the kids before we stopped the car that good behavior, doing what your told and not throwing fits would earn them a chance to draw out of the basket. They only got to draw one item, they got to choose the item. We called it our "travel goodie box". It worked! The kids were excited to get to draw a prize. Even coming home when Chris was really tired he did amazing!!!!!

When we had been home about 25 minutes Bobby called to tell me he loved me and that he would miss me and to let me know they had gotten there safely! What a good end to a good day!

We had a wonderful day traveling and spending time with our kids! We have decided who needs a DVD player when you can count the number of cemeteries, churches, and kinds of animals!!!
Have a wonderful week!
