Buying in Bulk

Saturday Morning, the boys and I spent 2 1/2 hours working in the kitchen. I bought a months worth of snackes that needed divided. 10lb of hamburger, 4 lb of lunchmeat, and lots of veggies and fruit. I used to do this all the time where I bought everything in bulk then divided it all up into usuable portions. I had gotten away from it, but I am back. It made our grocery budget a bit over but it will be sooo worth it in the end. I also completely restocked the pantry and freezer. All together our grocery budget took a pretty good hit, but it needed doing. There were also a couple of items I already had on hand that just needed divided up.

The boys helped for most of it. Bekah even helped for a few minutes. We had a lot of fun doing it together.

Ok here is the breakdown of what we put away:

Snack size baggies:
11 bags of chocolate chip cookies (3 per bag)
18 bags of honeycomb cereal (2/3 cup per bag)
27 bags of graham crackers (2 whole crackers per bag)
21 bags of mixed nuts (2 tablespoons per bag)
8 bags of Ritz crackers (12 crackers per bag)
18 bags of animal crackers (2/3 cup per bag)
8 bags of raisins (1/4 cup per bag)

Quart size freezer bags:
2 bags of Ham (1lb each)
2 bags of Turkey (1lb each)
1 bag of carrots ( peeled and cut up)
1 bag of cucumbers ( peeled and cut up)
1 bag of cantaloupe (cut up)
10 bags of hamburger (1lb each)

Gallon size freezer bags:
1 bag of carrots (peeled and cut up)
1 bag of broccoli (cut up)
1 bag of cauliflower (cut up)
1 bag of strawberries (cut up)
1 bag of watermelon (cut up)
1 bag of celery (cut up)

Now we have snacks, fruits and veggies that the kids can eat on. I also have hamburger in the freezer and lunch meat in the freezer as well. It feels really good to be prepared for the next month with snacks.

I cleaned out the fridge, deep freezer and pantry this weekend so everything is organized and can be easily found!
