It is that time of year once again. This year it seems a bit later than usual which is very nice! When the temperature heats up I darken my house. I cover the windows with curtains, close the blinds. Our a/c unit is a bit small for our house, therefore it doesn't cool very well anytime, but especially when it really heats up! This has become a yearly tradition. It is not one of my favorite times but it is necessary. Last year I was able to cut about $100 off of our summer cooling bill, by turning my house into a cave. It keeps the house cooler and saves us money. And I am all over the saving of money!!! I miss the bright cheery house but I will soon adjust to my cave.
This year I changed out the curtains in the school room. I took down the blinds that were missing, falling apart, or just plain broken. I replaced the blinds with some dark navy curtains. It looks very nice, and will be effective! I did cheap my way out. A very dear friend once told me that flat bed sheets make wonderful curtains! That is what I bought. 4 to be exact. I cut open the top hem and inserted my curtain rods. I then got a valance panel to cover up the cut pieces of the sheets. And walla I have nice looking curtains, and I didn't spend very much money!!! Pam would be soooooooo proud!!!
