I was so privileged to attend a womans retreat this weekend. The theme was "Quilts of Life" We had a wonderful speaker, from Joplin, MO. I am so amazed how well God puts things together. All the music, all the devos, all the specials, all the talks all went together. I am so refreshed and ready to take on the world.
The idea is that we are building quilt blocks as we go through life. We are building romance quilts with our spouses, we are building family quilts with our kids. We also have a sisterhood in Christ quilt. All the while all of our quilts are overlapping. What a beautiful way to think about it. We also talked about the older mentoring the younger. Bridging that gap between generations so that we all build a stronger relationship with our Lord. It was so neat how at RE we have just started a mentoring group. It was very uplifting.
6 years ago this retreat started with 7 women, this year we had 49 women! This is my second year to attend. This is the woman's retreat for the woman of my home church and some of the surrounding churches.
I spoke on Sunday morning. It went really well. I am again amazed how God tied my talk into what everyone else was talking about. There were women from 3-4 different states, whom God worked through all of us to create the same idea for this retreat. God is wonderful! My talk was about that we are imperfect and that Jesus the Great Tailor fixes our blots and mistakes if we ask him to do so. I gave example from the genealogy of Jesus how these woman with issues were chosen to carry the line of Jesus. You know God has chosen all of us for his purpose. Ask then listen. He will tell you what he has in mind for you.
It was good to have a break from my life. Although I was definitely ready to return to it when it was time to come home. I would love to take more women with me next year. It is the last weekend in September. The catch is it is 5-6 hours away. This year my friend T went with me. It was wonderful to really get to know her better and spend time in prayer with her. We did a lot of laughing and praying together. I feel really blessed to have her in my life. I have prayed for a local close friend for a couple of years. God has not only blessed me with one but with 2. I feel like God has really drawn these 3 women together. OH how I am blessed to be a part of that friendship.
May God bless you and lift you up as you venture through your week!
